Course Overview

It is important to understand the risks when dealing with coal and combustible dust. This course will introduce coal handling and safety to all site personnel with a mix of theory and interdisciplinary group works. Hereby a great foundation for safe working procedures is set.

  • The nature of fire and explosion, risk management and the fire triangle
  • Understanding and using the ATEX directive
  • Grinding, fineness and residual moisture of of coal
  • Operational principles for a vertical roller mill and ball mill
  • Simulator operation principles for grinding of raw coal
    • Required monitoring during coal grinding
    • Start – stop procedures Start and stop procedures for a coal grinding plant
  • Mechanical understanding of the coal mill installation
  • Specific machines, components, function and maintenance
  • Coal transports, Filters, Feeders
  • Case stories and group work solving specific tasks
