Course Overview
It is important to understand the risks when dealing with coal and combustible dust. This course will introduce coal handling and safety to all site personnel with a mix of theory and interdisciplinary group works. Hereby a great foundation for safe working procedures is set.

- The nature of fire and explosion, risk management and the fire triangle
- Understanding and using the ATEX directive
- Grinding, fineness and residual moisture of of coal
- Operational principles for a vertical roller mill and ball mill
- Simulator operation principles for grinding of raw coal
- Required monitoring during coal grinding
- Start – stop procedures Start and stop procedures for a coal grinding plant
- Mechanical understanding of the coal mill installation
- Specific machines, components, function and maintenance
- Coal transports, Filters, Feeders
- Case stories and group work solving specific tasks
